Martin Luther King Memorial, D.C.

Architectural
Overview

Synergi had the privilege of being awarded a design-build contract on this prestigious project. After 1 ½ years of preconstruction involvement with the architect and contractor, our mandate was to design, manufacture, and install these one-of-a-kind glass light trough panels, located directly under the inscription wall. The vision of this momentous memorial was to evoke the memory of Dr. King. It will honor not only the notable man, but the values that empowered his leadership. The original design concept included glass panels covering a trench that houses lighting fixtures. The function of the unique light trough is to have a “walk-on lens,” allowing light to pass through onto the inscription wall. In addition to lighting, the trough acts as a drainage element for the plaza.
