BRAC 133

Architectural
Overview

This moderately wide, slightly curved feature stair is designed with a central stringer and individual composite treads. Each steel cantilevered tread has a triangular profile reflecting the stair pitch; it employs a structural concept based upon a concealed series of diaphragms with a steel skin. The stair length required mid supports and this is provided by floating steel beams suspended by special stainless-steel cables attached to the floor structure above. The decorative Synergi Minima glass guardrail system is attached to reinforced ends of the treads. There are four different materials on the stair and five unique finishes. This stair displays many innovative features and required prototype modeling and special engineering analysis to meet the stringent design criteria.
